The Rescue Pod

Life Saving Protection
for nature at its worst.

When Disaster Strikes, Will You Be Ready?

One rarely knows when disaster will strike.
For those times when you have but a few moments to save you and your family, we offer the Rescue Pod. It can save lives…

About the RescuePod

The RescuePod is designed with one goal in mind: provide life-saving protection in the event of tsunamis and catastrophic flooding and weather events. The design is simple and elegant. We use high-tech components like high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a Personal Locator Beacons (PLB), reinforced rescue lines, and rock-solid racing seats with safety harnesses.

Your RescuePod will keep occupants secure and stable during the violent motion of a tsunami.

Key Features

  • Buoyant, High-Strength Molded HDPE Core & Ultra-High Visibility Color
  • Emergency Rations, Rescue Beacon, 2 Safety Seats & Harness
  • Bulletproof Lexan Windows, Reinforced Rescue Tether & Much More

How Does the RescuePod Work?

The spherical design and ballast of the RescuePod enable it to remain upright and buoyant during the strongest, most powerful wave action. The smooth, rounded exterior allows water to flow freely around the tsunami capsule, preventing accumulation of heavy debris.

We’ve tested the RescuePod under extreme conditions and put the design through rigorous computer simulations and real-life stress tests. Our tests confirmed the RescuePod’s:

  • Balance
  • Buoyancy
  • Impact Resistance
  • Passenger Safety
  • Structural Integrity

History of the RescuePod

“In 2004, like the rest of the world, I was shocked and saddened by the devastation of the Indian Ocean Tsunami. I knew there had to be a better way to protect those living in the potential path of a tsunami.

For nearly a decade, Reliable Emergency Shelters has been perfecting an elegant, simple design and offering life-saving protection during a tsunami.

If you’d like to know more, contact us today.”

Frequently Asked Questions

The key components

Is the RescuePod Sink-Proof?

The Tsunami RescuePod is designed to be 100% buoyant. If submerged during a tsunami it will pop right back to the surface and right itself thanks to the heavy ballast in the base of the pod.

What is the RescuePod Made From?

The pod itself is made from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), an incredibly strong and versatile material. HDPE is:

  • Low-density and highly-buoyant – It’s lighter than water and floats easily.
  • High tensile strength – Incredibly strong and resistant to punctures
  • Viscous, elastic, and strong – Flexible strength help the RescuePod prevent cracks and deformation
  • Shock absorbent – HDPE absorbs shocks without taking structural damage
  • Corrosion free – Salt and sand will not damage the RescuePod in any way!

HDPE is the same material used by the military and law enforcement for ballistic shielding and is used in many ocean going vessels, too.

How Many Days Can You Survive In the RescuePod?

The pod will float indefinitely and includes rations sufficient for 2 people for 3 days:

  • 4 gallon water jug
  • 12 Meals Ready to Eat, at 1200 calories per meal
  • Waste bags

Will Rescue Crews Be Able to Find the RescuePod?

In addition to the international orange paint, each RescuePod includes a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB). A PLB can broadcast a distress signal, alerting the Coast Guard or nearest search and rescue team of your location within 100 meters or less.

Over 400 pilots, boaters and back country explorers were saved by a PLB during a rigorous test program in remote Alaskan wilderness.

In a Tsunami, when evacuation is impossible, the RescuePod is Priceless
